We updated SweepsGoat this weekend, so we wanted to take a quick minute to tell you what’s different:

• No More Voting: You’ll still be able to save your favorite sweepstakes to a special list (more on that below). But we found that generally our members didn’t also vote their favorites up, so we eliminated the voting system. Instead, we’ll regularly choose sweeps to feature that have especially high value, great odds — or that just sound fun.
• Simplified Favorite Sweeps: Want to easily save the sweeps you want to enter again? Use the “Save to Favorites” link available on each sweepstakes listing. You can come back to your favorites any time by clicking “Saved Favorites” on the top menu of every page.
• Recent Listings: Our previous system made it difficult to see all the newest stuff at a glance. Now you can check the calendar on the sidebar to find all the new listings since your last visit.

And here’s changes that might need some action on your part:

• New Login: If you want an account on the updated site (required for listing sweeps or adding comments; nice for saving your favorite sweeps), you’ll need to reset your password. You can do this by clicking “Lost Your Password?” on the login box in the right-hand sidebar. Enter the same username or email address you used previously, then follow the instructions in the email it sends you (if you don’t see the email, check your “Spam” folder). If for some reason the system doesn’t find your username/email, just register again. You shouldn’t have lost any account information.
• Old Saved Sweeps: Did you save some sweeps in the old system? Once you reset your password and log in, you’ll be able to visit a special page listing all your old saved sweeps. You’ll have to choose on a sweep-by-sweep basis whether or not to mark them as favorites again. We chose to do it this way since many people had only expired sweeps saved – we didn’t want to clog up folks’ new ‘Favorites’ list with old stuff.
• Email Subscription: We previously offered two different Feedburner email subscriptions. We’re paring that down to one. The SweepsGoat / Top Sweeps email list has been renamed to SweepsGoat / New Sweeps, and it will send out a daily list of all the new sweepstakes listed on our site. The SweepsGoat / Runners-Up email will be going away in 30 days. If you’re subscribed to the Runners-Up email, you should start to get warnings about it being discontinued. Just unsubscribe from it, and subscribe instead to the SweepsGoat / New Sweeps email.
