No, the only event open to the public is the 7 p.m. show at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Friday, October 19, for which tickets will be given away through the sweepstakes only.

No, seating and time are limited; therefore, each school will decide how to choose students to attend.

Q8. Why have private schools and home-schooled children not been included?

Scholastic wishes we could include every single one of J.K. Rowling's millions of devoted fans in her Open Book Tour events this fall; however, that is simply not possible. Therefore, we have limited the events to three venues and have limited the pool of possible attendees for the daytime events to students attending public schools in those cities. In order to provide an opportunity for every fan to have a chance to attend an event, we are holding a national sweepstakes for 1000 fans to win two tickets each to attend the evening event at Carnegie Hall in New York City on October 19th. Anyone age 7 and above can enter to win those sweepstakes tickets Of course we regret any disappointment felt by fans who are not chosen through either the school or sweepstakes selections.
